airport loungeOne of the main factors that puts people off travelling is the long periods of time passengers have to spend in airports, awaiting their flight or their connection.  While you can certainly get your arrival time at the airport down to a fine art, passengers already in transit (that is, having landed at an airport that is not their final destination) do not have such an option.  This is where airline lounges come in.  All airports have seating areas, and the overwhelming majority also offer restaurants and cafeteria style snacks and beverages.  Unfortunately these areas can become crowded, and they're not designed for privacy or comfort.  This is why executive and airline lounges have become popular.

Executive lounges and dedicated lounges for particular airlines are located in many international airports around the world.  Their aim is to offer a quiet haven to rest and relax, without the hustle and bustle that is normally present in an airport.  These private lounges are generally open to first and business class passengers, frequent flyers, passengers with annual memberships, and sometimes even those passengers who elect to pay a once-off fee for a time-limited pass.  Such lounges offer high quality food and beverages (including alcoholic drinks) that are generally complimentary.  Lounges also aim to be much more comfortable, with some of the more high-tech facilities offering showers, rest areas (with beds) and quiet rooms.  Ultimately your travel experience doesn't have to be a negative one - simply find your nearest lounge!
